We welcomed family and friends Home for the Holidays last Thursday night with our Holiday Dinner!

We hosted guests in the Nursing Home, Assisted Living, and Memory Support Unit for a fun and festive evening, complete with live violin music, a photo station, and a visit from Santa Clause himself!

Thank you to our kitchen for preparing a delicious meal, our staff for planning a wonderful party, and our families and friends for joining us!

A special shoutout to Casa Verde Growers in Columbia Station who donated 175 poinsettias for our event! We used the flowers as centerpieces and sent them home with guests. The extras will be displayed throughout the building all month long!

Howard was born in Norwalk, OH and grew up on his family farm. He said he then lived “in or around” Avon Lake for most of his life. He joined the Army after graduating high school and spent a good deal of time in Germany during the Korean War. He met his wife Marilyn while he was still in school at a Walther League conference, and they got married when he returned from his military service. They were married 57 years before she passed away. Howard has 4 sons, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He said, “I love them all!”

Howard worked at Goodrich for almost 30 years. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts, leading many camping trips and serving as an Institutional Representative. He worked with the organization in one way or another for about 50 years! Howard also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and as an Ombudsman for Avon Oaks Nursing Home. He hosted an AFS student from Norway during the 1973-74 school year, and the two still keep in touch! Howard visited him a couple times on trips to Europe to see family. Howard said his favorite places to travel were Germany and Hawaii.

Here at O’Neill, Howard is a friend to all! He has a positive attitude and seems to always be smiling! He enjoys a variety of activities like Exercise, Bingo, and special events.
Thanks for sharing your story, Howard. We are happy to have you here at O’Neill Bay Village.

This month’s Rising Star is Cook Michael C. Michael joined the O’Neill Healthcare Bay Village team in early October and said, “it’s been a great time so far!”

Michael was nominated for being a hard worker and for being attentive to the residents’ needs. He often asks them how they are doing, how their meal was, and if there is anything else he can do for them. Overall, Michael has been a great addition to the Dietary Department!

Michael has been a Cook for about 24 years in various settings including nursing homes, hospitals, and restaurants, and said O’Neill takes the cake. He likes working here because of the friendly staff and residents. He also said, “Seeing all the remodeling being done in our building shows that the O’Neill family is invested in their residents and employees, and that they plan to keep the business moving forward for years to come.”

Michael was born in Cleveland and raised in Lorain County. He grew up playing sports and loves hiking, working in the yard, and being outside. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends. Michael is an avid fisherman and likes to fish as much as possible.

Thank you, Michael for all your hard work. We are happy to have you here at O’Neill Healthcare Bay Village!

Looks like a time change? Flyer and previous FB and email had different times- now it has changed on FB and email. Nursing home is now 5:00 not 6:00 as previous posted?

Love the invite! Cant wait 😍

Yesterday we honored all of our Veterans with a special Recognition Ceremony. Members of the North Ridgeville VFW presented pins, one of our own Veterans wrote an original speech, and we passed out poppies made by residents to signify remembrance.

Special thanks to O’Neill Hospice for providing Certificates of Appreciation.

Happy Veterans Day and THANK YOU to all who have served our country.
