FP employees dressed in red for American Heart Month

In June, O’Neill Healthcare hosted a ‘Lunch and Learn’ event at our Bay Village location, focusing on the critical issue of scams that frequently target seniors. As scams become increasingly sophisticated, it is crucial for older adults, caregivers, and family members to understand how to protect themselves from these malicious schemes that typically will aim to steal their money, time, and valuable resources. The event featured an insightful panel of speakers, including Detective Kelly Rhodes from the Bay Village Police Department, Financial Advisor Alanah Rodriguez from Ameriprise Financial, and Richard O’Neill.

Detective Rhodes provided expert advice on recognizing and reporting scams to your local police departments and the best way to get assistance quickly. She mentioned multiple examples of scams that had occurred right in the Bay Village community and how to watch and learn from those instances. Alanah offered strategies for safeguarding financial assets and touched on the importance of keeping your financial information safe and secure. Richard followed up the presentation by discussing the role of information technology in enhancing security within senior living communities. He provided a helpful recommendation of using the tool of password keepers and how this can assist in keeping individuals safe from scammers who will easily access accounts.

Learning how to identify and prevent scams is essential in empowering seniors to defend against fraud and maintain their well-being. O’Neill Healthcare is grateful to have been able to provide such an insightful and important informational session to our community members.
