On Tuesday July 11th, Walter Grondeski turned 104 years old! Walter was born on July 11th, 1919 in Warren, Ohio. In 1942, at the age of 23, Walter was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Air Force during World War II. On December 3rd, 1945 Walter was honorably discharged with the ranking of Corporal. Walter has been married twice and has children and grandchildren. He loves to read and enjoys listening to music.
A celebration was held for Walter’s 104th birthday on Wednesday July 12th at O’Neill Healthcare Middleburg Heights. Walter celebrated this milestone with facility staff and friends as well as his family, some even traveling all the way from Hawaii! Walter even received a Proclamation from the Mayor of the City of Middleburg Heights, proclaiming that from this day, July 11th is to be recognized and dedicated as “Walter Grondeski Day.” The celebration was filled with laughs, love, and fun. Thank you to Walter’s family, the O’Neill Healthcare Middleburg Heights staff, and to the Mayor of Middleburg Heights for making this celebration possible.
