Every moment matters—especially during life’s most challenging times. At O’Neill Healthcare Hospice, our Moments of Joy program is dedicated to creating meaningful experiences that bring comfort, connection, and cherished memories to patients and their loved ones. The Moments of Joy Fund was created to help fulfill the final wishes of our hospice patients—whether it’s reuniting with family, celebrating a birthday in a special way, or simply enjoying a meaningful day.
Through Moments of Joy, we’ve seen firsthand how small gestures can make a big difference.

Heartfelt Gestures
Guardians Game
One of our residents had a lifelong love for baseball, so our Hospice team surprised him with tickets to a Guardians game. Surrounded by loved ones at the ballpark, he experienced a true Moment of Joy—reminding us how meaningful memories bring comfort and happiness to both patients and families.
Memorial Tree Planting
In honor of a patient’s husband who recently passed and was a veteran, we planted a tree in the Strongsville community and held a lunch ceremony. The patient’s wife received a commemorative plaque, and a ceremony with lunch was coordinated for her family members and our hospice staff to celebrate her husband’s memory.
Car show
With help from the NEO Porsche Club, we brought over 15 classic cars to our North Ridgeville location to fulfill a patient’s longtime dream of attending a car show—something he hadn’t been able to do. The result was a joyful, unforgettable afternoon filled with excitement and heartfelt moments.
Birthday Celebrations
The Moments of Joy fund allows us to create smaller yet meaningful gestures throughout the year, such as gifting cozy blankets to long-term hospice patients and delivering flowers and desserts to celebrate patient birthdays.
Raffle Baskets
Our Moments of Joy provides raffle baskets monthly in each O’Neill Healthcare community. Community and family members are able to purchase tickets for the baskets and all funds are collected towards the Hospice Moments of Joy fund.
Therapy Dog
O’Neill Healthcare Hospice volunteer therapy dog Stella brings moments of joy whenever she visits!
