As a family-owned and operated company for over six decades, O’Neill Healthcare has remained committed to supporting the communities we serve. Rooted in family values, our ongoing community involvement is a fundamental piece of who we are. Each year, we proudly partner with local nonprofits, charitable organizations, and businesses across the six communities we serve to support a wide range of initiatives of giving back.

Traditionally, our community-based efforts have included awarding scholarships to local high school students, supporting food and clothing drives, volunteering our time, and organizing blood drives at our six locations. Our dedicated staff have specifically volunteered at local food pantries, shelters, and senior centers, strengthening our connection to the communities we serve. This year, we were proud to expand our outreach through a unique technology-based partnership with donations to PCs for People and an education series called “Seniors to Seniors”.

PCs for People is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting digital equity and, through this partnership, O’Neill Healthcare donated over 250 computers in hopes of aiding digital access in our communities. As it is our mission to support older adults, PCs for People is prioritizing the distribution of these computers to seniors, helping them stay connected, informed, and digitally independent. Whether it’s accessing telehealth services or maintaining communication with loved ones, these donated devices will help users to grow in today’s evolving digital world.

In efforts to further our commitment to digital education, we have also launched a new initiative this year called “Seniors to Seniors.” Our “Seniors to Seniors” series is a program that partners high school seniors with seniors in our communities to educate the elderly on how to properly, and safely, use smartphone devices, tablets and computers. In collaboration with Polaris Career Center, these sessions pair high school seniors with older adults in our community for one-on-one technology support. Residents, family members, and community members are invited to attend and receive personalized assistance with their smartphones and other devices.
Our first session was held in April, and it was an afternoon filled with conversation, connection, and education. Attendees received guidance on everyday tech topics such as texting photos, using voice assistance, setting up group chats, and more. With technology evolving rapidly, seniors are quickly left with an overwhelming knowledge deficit that renders these devices difficult to use without assistance. Because of this, we are committed to continuing these tech sessions to include support for tablets, computers, and other devices.
From increasing digital access through computer donations to building digital literacy among seniors, our efforts reflect a larger goal: to enrich lives both inside and outside our six facilities through community involvement and giving back.
We invite you to join us as we continue to empower and educate the communities we serve.
